Risk The Dark

Inspiration: I take my inspiration from the events of life, mine and others. Risk The Dark came from watching what happens when people avoid dealing with the dark parts of their journeys–grief, abuse, addiction, fear of success–while hearing them say they are always chasing the light–that which is good in life.

One day I wondered, how can we find the light if we are caught in the dark? So the first stanza of the poem wrote itself.

Sometimes to see the light

You have to risk the dark

You have to walk down the alley

Where the angry dog barks . . .
